week one, lab

Have you figured anything out?

[ Mizuki's been in here a couple of times over the past few days - as far as investigating, the computer room is simply the most logical place to look for someone from their time period. Books are basically extinct. Even if they haven't been able to get anything out of the old computers yet, they have to at least keep trying.

And they've seen this guy in here a few times, tinkering with something or other. Concentrating on their own plans, they'd left him alone; now, not having much success, they finally approach, in seemingly light spirits. ]

You always seem like you're tinkering on something in here.

Hey, it makes sense. Given how many of us are in here every day, if one of us finds something, it's bound to get out sooner or later. Might as well stay ahead of things. And don't worry about the formalities. You're Mizuki, and I'm Guy. We can leave it at that.

[Firm handshake, very nice. His isn't without a formal feel to it, though it's here and gone before he's right back to a casual seat against his chair, spinning it around proper to face Mizuki.]

It sure is an interesting mess. But it is what it is right now. It's not like we have the time to be upset about it when we might as well be taking some sort of action.

Anyway. Does Malkuth ring any bells? [He's assuming that's a no. He's only really met one other person that didn't look or act completely, utterly foreign. But maybe they could surprise him.]

Ahahah... I try not to be. But in this case, it's just a barrier for the sake of politeness, right? I don't mind dropping it if it helps us get to know one another, especially if you're being kind enough to give me your own name upfront.

If you're not comfortable with it, though, just say so.

[He doesn't mind keeping the titles for other people, but it still feels so weird to have them used on himself.]

We're in the same boat, then. The Malkuth Empire is the largest country in the northern part of the known world, but no one here's really been familiar with it.

What about Europe? Is it a country? Continent?

[He shakes his head, taking a second to adjust where his left arm sits in his lap... oddly enough, by using his right arm to move it. But he just goes right along with the conversation as if there wasn't anything odd about it.]

I'm afraid I don't. Sorry.

I could see if I could draw out the continents I do know, if that would help you out. Maybe you'll recognize something that way.

It sure feels like it, doesn't it? It's hard not to fall asleep wondering if you're eventually going to wake up back home.

[It lost its charm after the second day here, really.]

One of the other guys in here mentioned alternate dimensions, too. Something about wormholes and multiverse theory. Kind of out there, but given that our hosts are at least claiming to be gods, it gives some kind of power to their tale. Either they're divine, or they've got a hold of something way bigger than what we're all used to. That gives them an upper hand, either way.

[Well he WAS about to make a quip about their vacation choices being a little slim right now. But then they go and interject with that.

Guy's smile falls a bit.]

Ah. You did notice, then. [He glances down for a moment, at his dead fish of a hand, before shrugging half-heartedly.] Don't worry, it doesn't hurt.

I found out the hard way that our new rule also applies to food and drink. One cup of tea later and it's like my whole arm is gone.

When Patience said no means no, I suppose she really meant it.

No kidding. Can't really take it back right now, though.

[With their request, he simply turns his chair to face them more openly, awkwardly adjusting his arm for them to examine. It's odd, trying to position it without accidentally injuring himself from the lack of sensation.]

Sure, go ahead.

It's not showing signs of rot, as far as I can tell. I just can't feel or move anything.

[IT SURE FEELS LIKE AN ARM. Outside some light scarring near his shoulder, they won't feel anything abnormal.]

Hahah-- what, you mean some sort of machine that just turns the nerves off?

Interesting idea, though I'm not sure how much I want to think about the implications of that.
