week 1, trial night
[ of course they have to go track down Majima after everything. They're still tense from the trial, but things worked out in their favor - relatively speaking - so they're able to be a bit more like their usual self, as opposed to the more serious side they showed today. The matter of Julius is still hanging over their head. It's at least partially their fault that he's dying.
But they'll just have to live with that. ]
Majima-kun. [ they stop him in the hallways, most likely. ] Good work in there. You really helped.

mizuki's appearance is, luckily, a welcome distraction. ]
Y'know, I really still can't tell if you're bein' sincere, Mizucchi.
[ :) ]

Hah. I'm not always joking around, you know. [ they were serious for like 9 hours straight today, lord help them. ] I'm not sure if people would have believed me without the additional evidence from the handprint. And my god was one of the ones up there, so it's especially appreciated. Anyway-- ...
[ they pause, briefly, then gesture at his... well, him. ]
Actually, first things first. Are you planning on putting your shirt back on or not? It's a bit distracting. Not to mention you'll catch a cold.
no subject
What, am I too much for ya?
[ he chuckles as he shrugs his shirt back on. he doesn't put on his blazer, nor does he bother buttoning up the shirt. compromise! ]
Jokes aside... yours too, huh?
[ HM. ]

[ they'll go with that answer. They want to ask him about it, anyway - but, for the time being, they leave it aside. He's moved onto another topic Mizuki wanted to address. ]
That's right. [ so his was up there, too... they can hazard a guess at who it might be. They're silent for a moment, seeming to ponder how best to progress. ] I was thinking of telling you which one I'm aligned with.
[ if nothing else, it's become obvious after the trial that allies are important. ]
But I wanted to ask you something, first. I had an inkling when we spoke before, but when I saw that tattoo, I was all but convinced. [ their tone stays even and non-judgemental as they glance up at him with a raised eyebrow. ] I'm sure you can guess what my question is.
no subject
I ain't yakuza. Used to be, but not for a while.
[ he flattens his collar, then he lifts his gaze and meets mizuki's eyes with his one. ]
Now that we got that outta the way... let's not beat around the bush anymore, yeah? On the count of three?
no subject
Ex-yakuza, huh... [ goofy, but still someone good to have on their side, certainly. ] You don't really think I'd try and trick you here...? But all right - on three, then!
[ they go ahead and start counting along on their fingers as they speak. ]
One, two, three - Beauty.
no subject
[ whew. ]
Hah. Woulda actually decked ya if you tried to pull a fast one on me. An' especially after gettin' confirmation, I'm pretty sure ya wouldn't want me to mess ya up.

[ score two for Mizuki tonight on guessing people's alignments!! They look pleased with themself, waving off his threats. Mizuki doesn't think he'd hit them (at least not yet.) ]
So you're with one of the popular gods, huh... I was nervous when people started to suspect Beauty-kun just because there aren't a lot of us. For the record, he's very peaceful - he doesn't want us to hurt anyone at all. That was one of the first things he told me.
no subject
Beauty-kun? He a kid? [ that bit is more surprising to him, honestly. ] 'Cause if I had to guess, Indulgence-han's probably closer to us in age... y'know, mentally.
no subject
Halfway. He told me that he's 17 years old. He was embarrassed about it, actually. [ a shrug. Beauty's behavior was endearing, really - if he wasn't an ominous masked figure that was playing with Mizuki's life, they're sure they'd like him more. ] What kind of person is Indulgence-san? I haven't talked to that one.
no subject
He's... a character. Real easygoin'. Really lives up to his virtue. S'where I got these from; all I had to do was ask. [ he reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. ] Told me as long as I play my cards right, he'll fuel my nicotine addition as long as we're here.
no subject
Not to start the conversion business right away, but - you're okay with just that?
[ they tilt their head at him, curious. They're not terribly surprised that the god of indulgence is laidback and interested in just that, but they are still wondering about Majima's character. ]
Has he talked about what he's going to do if he wins, or anything like that...? Indulging bad habits is a pretty low reward to offer for human life.
no subject
[ he'll offer a cigarette to mizuki—if they take it, he'll respectfully light it for them; if not, he'll just put everything back in his jacket. regardless of their decision, he then folds his hands into his pockets and... shrugs. he's deliberately trying to keep any emotion off his face, but than in and of itself is a little telling. ]
If I'm bein' completely honest? I don't really care what he has in mind. Rule the world, destroy the universe, go back in time to before all'a this even happened—as long as I get what I came here to get, I'll be satisfied.
no subject
Well, we're not so different in that respect. Although I'd be a little concerned if the universe got destroyed.
[ They live there!! Naturally, they want to know what wish he has that's so important it overrides everything else - but they also get the impression it's not something he wants to talk about. Maybe some other time. They tuck the knowledge away at the back of their mind for now. ]
Still... I'd prefer taking the path that costs the least life. Today... wasn't pleasant.
no subject
[ he just shrugs. sorry, you gotta make more progress on his route to unlock that conversation. ]
No shit. But I've got a feelin' it ain't gonna be as easy as convincin' everyone to switch to the same faction or somethin' like that. They keep callin' it a... competition—[ he grimaces ]—for a reason.
no subject
Mm, I know. Even now, I can't say for certain that Beauty-kun is the best option. Since all of them are promising to grant our wishes, it'll be difficult to convince some people to change.
[ Majima is potentially one of those people, they realize; if he cares solely about getting his wish granted, then the amount of violence committed or not committed to get to that endpoint may not matter - especially considering he's already lived a yakuza lifestyle. Mizuki sighs, running a hand through their hair. ]
-- But I didn't bring this up with you to try and change your mind. All of us have done enough debating for one day. [ even mizuki can only take so much... they offer him a friendly smile. ] I think you're one of the more reliable people here. Even if you're ex-yakuza. Or maybe because you are? Anyway, I hope we can work together. My faction is pretty small, so I'm trusting you not to get me in trouble, okay?
no subject
If we're bein' 100% honest with each other? I'd rather break this game into a million goddamn pieces before I kill anyone. 'Cause once ya kill another livin' human being... you've chosen a path ya can't turn back on.
[ he takes a breath, then switches registers as he shifts to the persona that earned him his reputation back home. ]
As long as you do the same for me, you have my word.
no subject
his very serious comment is somewhat unexpected, though, and they're inclined to believe him on it. Their smile fades a little bit, but it seems like their change in mood is directed inwards rather than at him. ]
Certainly... I agree with you there, too. [ after a certain point, you can't expect to be forgiven. But it's only a brief falter in their expression. ] You can count on me. Let's try and keep these kids out of trouble. For the time being, I'm mostly trying to get a read on what each of the gods is like so we can have a better idea of who to trust.
